The 2026 SLO County Housing Summit brought together the Central Coast community for a focused conversation on housing in San Luis Obispo County. The event featured keynote speaker Shane Phillips, who manages the Randall Lewis Housing Initiative at the UCLA Lewis Center for Regional Policy Studies, alongside a conversation with our Vice President Aaryn Abbott and a panel of local housing experts sharing on-the-ground perspectives.
The Summit included a thoughtful conversation on one of our region’s most important challenges: how to create more attainable housing while also addressing homelessness, climate, community character, and the real barriers to getting housing built. Shane Phillips offered a compelling framework around supply, stability, and subsidy, and the discussion underscored the importance of focusing not just on what communities allow, but on what can actually be delivered.
Thank you to the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce for hosting the Summit. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work collectively toward a built environment that strengthens and enriches the Central Coast community.
